Can you put a roadglide fairing on an Ultra?
« on: March 13, 2008, 06:37:37 AM »

I know it sounds extremely stupid but they dont send roadglides to europe for some reason.I was thinking to buy a used Ultra and customise it and add a roadglide fairing. Is it easy to do just like buying a set to fix it on the frame or a very hard job? :drink:

Not sure on that one. Why don't you get one shipped over from the USA or Canada? Probably better off & then you'd have the real thing.

It ca be done, just have to get all the parts.  I've seen Ultra's converted to the Road Glide fairing and I've also seen a Road Glide converted to the Ultra fairing...Go figure!

I have converted a tour glide (now road glide)into an electra glide in 1984 with any problems.

I'm sure you can - the rode glide is a Frame mount fairing VS the Ultra (Batwing) is attached to the forks. The problem would be with rerouting the factory wiring harness. That would be the major hassle and or expense, I'm not saying it can't be done I would think the Harness would need to be longer at some points just because it's a HD.

It may be easier to buy a Road King and a detachable fairing from one of many suppliers.  Then you have 2 bikes in one.

If you desperately want a Glide you can always purchase one from the USA and ship it yourself.  Apparently they can't ship new bikes but you will get one second hand if that's the way you want to go.

Altug, if you're considering doing this and want some pages to compare let me know.  I'll scan the exploded view pages from the parts manuals for the Electra Glide and for the Road Glide.  Would be an easy comparison then to see all the parts you'd need to complete the installation.

This month's eddition of American Bagger has a story about vrod that they added a roadglide fairing and saddlebags to.  Surely if you can add it to a vrod, you can to another EG.

When we were in Daytona last year, Unbalanced & I talked to a guy that had done it to an '06 SEUC. Yup, that Watermelon was a one of a kind Road Glide!
