Has he called HD Tech Services directly to request the new gaskets? I thought the only way to get the composite gaskets was to get them sent to the dealer directly for a specific warranty repair. I don't think they are ordered like a cataloged part.

:indian_chief:
Chief,
I will check with him on that tomorrow as I also have my service # to give him that I got from the MoCo when I called in the head gaskets.  Sure is some Fiasco going on here with these 110s!!!

Here is the latest and greatest from the Dealer on the head gaskets.
"Harley MoCo has a new set of head gaskets out and there is no part number for them" :nixweiss:
I think I remember reading someone else posted that info not too long ago on here.
He said they are of course on back order and hard to get but thinks he located a dealer
that has them and is trying to get them quick so my bike won't be in the shop too long.
The ring gear, he said they need to tear into in to figure what is up and going
on in that part of the bike.
LOL, man, this is fun...NOT!!!

As Chief mentioned, have the dealer contact H-D Tech Services.  They will find that the ring gear issue was a known problem early with the '07"s (probably another Chinese supplier).  Tech Services is also the source of the no-number head gaskets, and will probably also tell the dealer to check the cylinders for sleeve displacement.

I would suggest that they verify that the compression releases are actually working (don't just guess, test them) and that the wires are not crimped/melted where they are routed through the rocker covers.  That was also fairly common on early '07's.

Good luck.

Thanks Jerry,
Dealer will be giving the MoCo folks a call and I did give them my Ref # that I got from the MoCo.  I showed him the nice leakage at the rear base gasket and he said that "there is a Special gasket for the 110s for that and they don't carry it in stock and will have to order it"...And I said "Oh really, of course it is Special, this whole damn bike is Special"

Got a chance to talk to the Mech that will be working on my bike(new to this dealer) and he said he has seen the Starter issue a couple times now.  And also the Rocker box clearancing too.  He said they specificly teach Mechs, like him, in school to look for Rocker Box clearence issues and to take care of them right away.  He was very surprised that the MoCo would let these engines roll off the line like this.
**AJ, that for the pics you posted on that, I printed 2 of them out and gave them to the Dealer, so there would be no questions about the issue!

So hopefully sometime next week I can get the ole Scooter back.  Anyway, my Street Bob is running good, HaHa and I will be riding that Hawg this weekend!

Just got off the hook with the Stealer and BiG Red is reading to leave the dealer after a 2 week stay.
I will get it Sat AM and post a report on what I think.
Hopefully I am pleased, but I am not getting my hopes up because I know it will leak again after a few thousand miles.
More to come...

Well the bike is back home in the Garage.  Looks like an ALL metal gasket
from just looking in the rear exhaust port area.
Ran nice and smooth on the way home and that annoying valve to rocker box
rapping noise is just about gone.  Nice relief there.
The whole clutch/Starter Ring gear was replaced and the starter pinion gear
was also replace which makes sense since it tore the starter ring gear UP!!!
Also had some chrome flaking off the Clutch Master Cylinder Cover and the good
dealer replaced it too under warranty with no problem!

Time will tell now how long these head gaskets last!
Good Luck to ME!!!!
