Time for Painted Parts
« on: May 04, 2008, 03:11:20 PM »

Had the misfortune of getting rear ended yesterday by someone who was NOT paying attention to what was going on.  We were OK - never even dropped the bike but she took out my rear fender and right saddlebag as well as the tail light, turnsignals, and misc stuff back there.

Will be getting an estimate tomorrow but concerned aboy then time it will take to get painted parts from the MoCo.  Anyone else been through this and if so, how lond did (will) it take to get stuff?

Sorry to hear of your misfortune. You can probably count on 6 - 8 weeks for delivery. You may want to give Jenni Sapyta of Tri-County HD in Cincinnati 513-874-4343 a call. Let her know you are a member here and get 20% discount (I believe this is good on painted parts).

Talked with Jenni today.  Been dealing with her for several years (from the Road King Forum) - GREAT person to work with.  Yes the 20% is good on painted parts and she thinks only abput 4 weeks!

Painted parts get done in cycles. If what you need is painted and ready to go, or in que to be painted soon, then a minimal wait. I waited 2-3 weeks for a king tourpak.

When I had to wait for a chopped tourpak lid it took over 7 months.
Gas tank took 3 months.

Sorry but I very much doubt it...I crashed my FLHTCSE two years ago, and they didn't have any of the limited edition parts available.  Had to wait over 2 months for the replacements to be painted up...they are VIN restricted.  I doubt they have any "laying around."  Good luck though, and I wish you well.

Duane is right........it's done in cycles.  They have to have a "minamum" before they'll process a specific color.  Of course, for a CVO, it takes longer for those minamum numbers to add up.  So if you're real lucky, it may only be a couple months......however, if you draw the kind of luck I did when I had my accident, you could be waiting several months. :nixweiss:  There's no way to say, with certainty.

By the way, real bummer about your accident but I guess the up side is that it doesn't sound like there was any serious injury.  That's what really counts when you're on two wheels. :2vrolijk_21:

UPS came to visit me on Friday.  Both the rear fender and the saddlebag!  Less than 30 days to get them.  Thanks to Jenni at Tri-County HD - she said it would be quick!
