Best way to lose the reflectors of my Rocker C (pics) ?
« on: April 04, 2008, 09:49:19 PM »

I'm making progress on transforming my Rocker C(VO) :D. I've added V & H big radius and a SE A/C ( I actually added these myself :2vrolijk_21:), chrome controls, centerline grips and pegs, chrome debris deflector, fork bag.  I have some Arlen Ness Rad III mirrors on order and I have an appt. in the a.m. to get a SERT and download one of the canned maps for my config.  I'll tune later.

Here are a few pics of what she looks like so far...

As you can see from the last pic, I have not removed the reflectors yet.  Is a heat gun or blow dryer the best way to get these things off?  I'm worried about the paint on the rear swingarm coming off with the reflector.  Any other tricks to ensure a clean break with the  bike?

Thanks,

John

Blow dryer or heat gun, then "Goo Gone" to clean up the residue.

Doesn't have to be real hot.

Blow dryer, dental floss and wd40 to clean up the left over adhesive is what I have used.

What do they know?

Still illegal to have blacked out side windows here yet you see dozens of vehicles everyday with them.

Besides, if he adds enough chrome, no one will notice the reflectors if they are missing. Should only be noticeable by their presence, not lack of.

Thanks boys.  Not sure where I would check in Texas on reflectors, but from what I see on the road, it would not be an issue here.  I'll take my chances ;)

Good test nylon fishing line, hair dryer, and goo gone should get those right off. Honestly...leaving it sitting in the hot sun will also loosen up that glue a bit. Those reflectors are about as secured as the stick on football logos you can buy online

Except for the ugly plate mounted in the middle of it :( MOCO should have used side mount plate.

Very smooth and very different from my Ultra, obviously.  The 240 tire handles pretty well.  The rocker arm suspensions works pretty well as it gives the illusion of the hardtail, but does have a fair amount of travel to absorb the bumps.  It's a great change for those days where I just want to tool around town and not throw around an 800 lb.er. ;D

Agree 100%.  The swingarm is larger in diameter than other HD's, so we are having a hard time finding a side mount for it. A few other folks on HDForum are searching for an alternative.  The plate mounting hardware appears to just slide out of the light which holds it in place. I'm sure over time more and more options and accessories should be available for the Rocker.  At least I hope so :-[

I rode the one we're giving away. Didn't like it. Sat too high for me. More like a sporty than a cruiser. But they are mean lookin' and the flip out passenger seat is brilliant engineering.
