Harley Horn Sounds Sick
« on: November 12, 2009, 06:35:56 PM »

I have had this Airhorn on Kasper for over 40,000 miles and she just sounds SICK. It used to quite loud but know I think it has injested to many bugs. My question is has anyone torn this horn down and cleaned it up so that it worked like new??If you have can you provide info on what you did.

I seem to remember spraying WD40 down my trumpets on an old bike to free them up.

Trapper Dog I would like to say believe it or not the WD 40 worked like a charm. It took quite a bit of WD 40 but the horn came back to it's original loud sound. That is what I was looking for in this post was a quick simple fix and it worked. :) :)

Yes, do not try and tear this horn apart, just remove the black hose in the back and shoot WD-40 in it. If it doesn't work the first time....do it again.

These horns should be exercised everytime you ride........ keeps the working parts working. WD-40 once in awhile never hurt either.

I tried tearing it down..........what a mistake.
