For what it's worth...I had the origianl fairing mount on a Road Glide.  The bottom "tab" on the cradle eventually broke off.  Happened while I was on a ride.  The "symptom" was the unit started to power on/off.  I pulled over and discoved what had happend.  I carry a roll of duck tape so did a band aid fix to keep going.  This was after over a year of use and I pretty much kept the GPS on all the time.  When I went to re order the cradle it was now an "A" part, meaning they did something to it, maybe to fix?
