hardwire power source options for zumo?
« on: July 30, 2008, 08:49:35 AM »

Is hard wiring it to the battery as simple crimping the right connectors to the supplied cable?

What I would really prefer is to have a switch option.

In the picture below, switch 1 powers the accessory connector under the seat.  Simple enough.

But what the hell does swith 2 control & where is the connection?

I think switch 2 controls the wire labeled 3.  But I had a few problems wiring the garage door opener, and this maybe a left over wire from re-working that problem.

As always, thanks in advance. d-

switch 2 is for the passing lamps you got cheated out of. there is a 2 white wire plug ( both positive )that is switched from that BUT because it is for passing lamps the plug goes dead when high beam is on

you should have a single loose wire thats has a covered connector on it for the fender tip light. that should always be hot when the bike is on. you can the tap one of your ground points for negative

The other switch is for auxillary use. under the seat in front of the battery is a four pin connector. The orange\white wire is controlled by it. The connector also has a ground, running light, and brake light circuit in it.

Dereck, I use switch #1 to power the Zumo and 2 amplifiers. I use the Aux connector under the seat for the saddlebag/TP spoiler LEDs and switch #2 for the Aux Lamps I added. You can use switch #1 and just run the wires yourself for everything thru the switch. Very convenient to turn on the Zumo and amps this way. ;)

On the SERK on the right side of the nacelle there is a covered spade female connector that is pos+ hot when the center knob is on. That is the easiest.

Look close and you will see the hardwire connector to the bike.
