Diagnostic codes
« on: May 07, 2008, 09:21:59 PM »

After modifying my SERT map and loading a couple of times, all went smooth, went at it a third time and,you guessed it download failed at 40%,I had visions of trailering to dealer, but followed instructions for retreiving and was able to continue and load new map.During the test ride after getting on it thru the gears, the engine light came on,checked it out it was code 605,ecm flash error EFI,any ideas or reasons for this.Always use same procedure and computer  :nixweiss:

Per the diagnostic manual:

If DTC P0603 or P0605 occur during or after reprogramming, perform the following:
1-Clear codes
2-Power down the vehicle
3-Attempt to reprogram the ECM using the correct calibration
4-Restart vehicle.  If code reappears, replace ECM.

Hopefully the code resulted from the stalled download, and once you clear the code it will be fine.

It did happen on the ride after the correct map was loaded, everything works fine,I will disconnect battery for 10 seconds and see what happens next time I ride it,seems to throw the code when exceeding 4k rpm.If it happens again and bike is running fine,is it still necessary to replace ecm? Will it just quit without warning?ECM in this bike has always been finicky IMO,it's an 04.Thanks for the help.

The map has ECM part numbers associated with it, confirm that your actual ECM part number is listed in the map and that it is indeed for your ECM.

Calibration definately compatible with ECM,will have to wait till I ride again and see if it pops a code again, checked with dealer who in turn called MoCo,they couldn't give a straight answer either, they answer was if you cleared it and it runs fine alls well.
