Super Sert ACR question
« on: June 20, 2008, 09:57:22 PM »

The canned maps that comes on the super sert have the ACR turned off, I'm guessing that ACR stands for Automatic Compression Release, why would they leave that turned off ??

I loaded the canned map and the bike started fine with the ACR still turned off.

When I turn the bike off it sounds like compression is released as soon as the motor stops turning like it did with the factory tune, is this when the ACR's are supposed to open up ?? or do they open when the motor is spinning up to start ??

Any one know what the ACR in the Software is really for ??

Thx

DD, think you answered your question.  ACRs are actuated by the ecm.  If the map has them turned off then they are inoperative.  Regular old style sert has this option also.  I leave it turned on.

Thats what I can't understand there turned OFF now but it still sounds like there working, or am I hearing something else when the motor stops spinning ?

The ACR's are used when starting the engine.  They open to allow the engine to crank with lower compression pressure against the piston, letting the engine turn over faster and start easier. You need to make sure they are "on" in the SERT program. Not sure what you're hearing when you shut the engine down...

Unless you do something to reduce the cranking compression, like change out the cams, I wouldn't leave the ACR's turned off.  They are there to reduce the strain on the starting system (battery, starter motor, starter drive, ring gear).
