Russell Day-Long Saddle
« on: June 02, 2008, 12:19:49 PM »

At Hogbreath's & Jester Decor's ribfest got to ride with one of his friends (also named Jerry) who has a Russell Day-Long saddle on his '06 cuse.  Just wondering if anyone has anything to report about this saddle.  Looks pretty good and lower priced than Corbin.

I have never owned one but I have talked to several Iron Butt Association riders that stated the seat was fantastic for long days in the saddle. It held up well and the service was great in being able to tailor the seat to fit your build and riding position, not only for you but for the BSR as well.

Russell is a great saddle, had one for years and it has to be the best seat ever!  They make each one individually based on rider and passenger weight/height etc.  Only down side is it takes a while for them to make the seat and get it back to you so if you only have one seat the bike it tied up for a while.  Russell in my opinion makes one of the best saddles around especially for touring type riders - in fact most of the IronButt contestents have their seats.

Have to say that I had my 06 seat redone with the Day Long seat.  I used to get real sore after 250 to 300 miles and was screaming to get off the bike.  Now I can ride all day long with no pain whatsoever and still want to go in the evening.  It was a great choice.

So, do you have to send in your seat for Russell to build the Day Long on stock seat pan?

I am trying to decide what seat to buy and the day long sounds good , but the web pictures look gross they appear very large and out of proportion. Do they look good on you bike or do they look utilitarian. Form and function must blend for me.

This is less expensive & works better than any seat on the market:

(shown without cover)

I use the large size on my 300+ mile days usually.  Plus if they ever leak, they are easy to fix.  Had mine for 6 years or so.

No offense to anyone who owns one of these seats, as there is no doubt they function well...but they look like a monkey's ass sewn up with a grapevine...
