Definitive5 oil filter
« on: July 02, 2008, 05:12:01 PM »

The HD part number for a chrome Definitive5 oil filter is 63802-07 but the HD catalog says it wont fit on a bike with a oil cooler, does anyone have one of these filters on their 08 SEUC with the factory oil cooler ??

Did it fit OK or does it not fit like the catalog says ???

Thx

Something separate from the question of what oil filters it will fit around.  There's been an issue with the outer cannister on them.  The chrome wraps around outside and inside.  Chrome on the threads is breaking loose during tightening and removal.  Small chrome debris inside my oil filter housing is something I'd try to avoid.

If some of the chrome is flaking off then the filter part of the canister should be doing it's job and stopping the particles from passing thru before it gets into the engine.

Putting an oil filter sideways on the engine right above the regulator and oil cooler is a bonehead move.

Just trying to find a way of changing the filter with out making a mess all the time.

I think drilling a hole on the end of the regular filter and letting the oil drain out into a funell and cup is my next move.

I'm running one on my SED - without a cooler. I seem to recall reading that it will not work with a cooler. I wish I could be more help.
