I absolutely recommend the Hawg Wired set-up.  I put the highest power amp they sell, and best speakers they sell in both the fairing and the lowers, I left the rear alone.

I send the power from head unit to rears and use the amps and crossovers on the hawg-wired speakers.  It sounds awesome -- especially when using auxillary input of an ipod w/ gilbos mount for ipod.  I also hid antenna under fairing, and replaced rear antenna w/ shorty. (total cost about 2K installed)

I also had the dealer make the tour pak quick disconnect on the CVO, so when it comes off, I still have four speakers in my face.

Was talking with Hoist over the weekend when he asked if I had plans to make my TP detachable.  Hadn't thought much of it until then, but since I've been pondering Hawg Wired lately, the thought is encroaching all the more.  The KTP on my old Ultra was detachable, and made for a fun "sport" bike when wanted.  So, I'm getting me one of them "round tuit" thingies.  Hope to get this done in short order.

Hubris

Welcome to the best site on the planet!
Your right about the Hawg wired equipment.
Best bang for the buck there is.  PLUS
If it's bought from Jim (hd-dude) you have the best equipment and the best service!
Doesn't get any better than that.

Hawg-wired! Definitely the way to go. And the plug and play amp is worth every penny. Love it!

I think it really depends on what you like . If the music is just to take away the drone then HogTunes are great , I have them and they sound very good , not terribly expensive, easy to install. If you are trying to get audiophile sound then Hog wired is probably a better choice. I have to wonder about spending allot on amps and mega good speakers when you have engine noise , exhaust noise ,wind noise doesn't make allot of sense to me but then deferant strokes for deferant folks.
