Lowered Front Suspension?
« on: July 09, 2008, 12:27:37 PM »

I'm short (5'9") with barely a 30" inseam. Currently I ride an '02 SE Road King with the lowered rear shocks. I'm thinking of trading to an '09 Street Glide (Please, let there be a CVO version this year.) and want to know if any of you have lowered the front of your CVO Electra Glides using the Harley parts. If you're short, lower is good, but am concerned about losing ground clearance in the corners -- I live in Colorado -- and making the front suspension overly harsh.

Thanks in advance for sharing your advice and experience.

If you read a lot about motorcycling, it's NEVER a good idea to lower any bike.
Consider lowering the suspension on your car, now drive hard thru bumpy
twisties, and think to yourself what may happen. Car bottoms out, and you
lose control. Same, or worse on a motorcycle. Suspension travel is very important
on a motorcycle.
I have seen quite a few people who have special shoes, to ride the higher seat bikes.
I just ran into a woomen on Saturday, with a Softtail Deluxe, who had like platform
shoes to ride her bike. She was maybe 5 ft tall.
If you just tour, maybe you'll be ok, but! Just an opinion.

You might do a search here on Jonga's Street Glide or just send him a PM.  I don't remember what all he did to get it lower but he doesn't seem to have a problem in the mountains with it.

I lowered the front 1" thru use of Traxxion AK-20 cartridges built 1" lower then stock height, and lower the rear with Legend Air Suspension. The Legend Air Suspension can be raised or lowered thru the push of a button mounted on the handlebars.   I am 5' 11", but have a 30" inseam.  I have no problems getting my feet on the ground when necessary, because I can lower the rear air suspension.  I have no problems with ground clearance because I can raise the rear air suspension when riding.  It is a pricey solution, but solved the issue for me... :2vrolijk_21:

I have a 29" inseam and had an 06 RG lowered front and back . it was great you would be fine as far as being able to stand flat footed. :2vrolijk_21:
