handling problems w/ 2004 Electra Glide Classic
« on: April 18, 2005, 09:08:35 PM »

Hello,
I was hoping someone could help. I have a 2004 Electra Glide Classic and at highway speeds (70 - 80 MPH) the bike is real loose. I can feel the bike not tracking properly. My riding buddies can see the rear of the bike moving so I'm think that someone else must have this problem. I have brought the bike in and if another dealership puts more air in the already fully presurized front tire, I'm going to scream.

Thanks in advance...3beerburnout

Yeah, 'er 'uh, 3beerburnout,
There could be a number of causes for the problem you're experiencing, and possibly only one solution.  Everything I say about this is my opinion, based on my experience with it.  1)  Spokes or Mags?  2) 40lb in rear-38lb in front?  3)  Rear wheel alignment perfect?  (4  Goose Neck been greased?  (5  Goose neck brgs. been checked?  (6  Rear tire have any high speed flat spots?  (7  Air shocks properly inflated?  (8  Any Roadkill partially wedged up under the Motorsickle and periodically being blown about under the rear tire, at high speed? [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif]  That's all I know about it Burnout!  Welcome to the Site! [smiley=thumbsup.gif]  Later--HUBBARD

Have the dealer check the rear swingarm pivot for proper torque, and also check for out of tolerance side to side (lateral) swingarm movement.
