Pinched Wire Under Tank
« on: October 08, 2008, 11:08:52 AM »

After experiencing not being able to get even a click out of my starter button Sunday afternoon, which happened one time before but finally started, on my 2008 SE Ultra, I had my bike picked up and taken to my dealer.  After showing four or five codes when tested, it wound up being a pinched wire under the gas tank causing an intermitten short.  Anyone experienced this?

Yep...happened to me last Saturday...luck I was only several hundred feet fron a HD Dealership,  I pushed the scoot back to the dealership.  It took them two days to find that a wire coming off one of the ACRs had shorted out on one of the heads.  Just had the ACRs replaced as part of the product enhancement program, so who knows what caused it!!!!!

ACR wiring shorted on the heads and blew your ECM fuse, right?

They explained to me that it was a current drain due to pinched wire under that tank.  I took their word for it as I was so happy that all was fixed that I did not go any further into their explanation.
