Worth keeping old parts?
« on: August 16, 2008, 12:45:23 PM »

I was wondering whither I should hold on to my old 103 oil pump, backing plate, lifters, push rods etc.  Just wanted to get an idea from others.  Cheers!

Me makes two. I guess they'll be good for paper weights or holding a manual open when working on the bike. ;D

why?  I can see old parts that you upgrade that have potential to return to stock, but what the heck are you going to do with an old oil pump?

You mean other then being a paper weight and holding a book open if needed? :D Started a long time ago picking up old parts from shop when having something installed for the simple reason I didn't know what was worth something or not, and I've known shops to sell take off parts. Figured I'd keep the parts myself and if somebody would want something I had in the future I'd be the one profiting from the sale and not the shop.

That's my story/excuse on being a parts pack rat and I'm sticking to it. ;D

True dat. :2vrolijk_21: I've seen several shops/dealers w/used parts for sale on eBay that more then likely were takeoff parts (from customers bikes). Why not bring them home and put them on there myself. :nixweiss:

I'm not throwing anything away anymore......I've seen stuff at swap meets and on Ebay bringing good $$$  like the ones I'd 'tossed' in the chopper days.   Not anymore.  :-[ har!  spyder
