Oil pressure drops to zero, AGAIN!
« on: August 16, 2008, 12:48:33 AM »

After having successfully upgraded the front end to Traxxion, I noticed my oil pressure gauge drop to zero on the ride back to Chief's house. The red light came on and the needle was bouncing between 0 & 30 psi. I pulled into a gas station and checked the oil level. Sure enough, low oil. The bottom of the bike is clean (not as clean as Carlos', but no oil). This only leads me to believe that the oil, ONCE AGAIN, has somehow gotten into the primary. This is the fourth time this has happened! The last time it was the 'compensator nut assembly'. We are going to pull the primary cover tomorrow and add more oil. I've got a 300 mile trek back home on Sunday then it's back to the dealer. I hope I make it. (I know Chuck will be ready to get rid of me by then  ;D)

That's scary AJ.  Very sorry it's acting up while you're away from home.

Chuck can show you when the primary is off but the compensator nut itself won't account for engine oil leaking in to the primary.  There's a large seal more inboard from where the compensator nut stops.

If you've had multiple repetitive failures of that seal you've all too likely got crankshaft problems AJ.  Put a dial indicator on the crank if Chuck has one there.  If not make sure the dealer very thoroughly checks it out.  Good luck getting it sorted out.
