Springer Rear Brakes
« on: December 28, 2012, 07:23:36 PM »

Changing  my rear brakes.........I am able to remove the caliper  BUT I am unable to remove the "pin" that holds the pads into the caliper.  Is there a special tool or socket needed to accomplish this task?  Any help or advise would be very helpful.  Thanks!!  FRUSTRATED  >:( >:(

I believe you need a 1/4"  12 point socket.  If you don't have one and can't find one, look at your wrench collection and see if you don't have a 1/4"  12 point box end.  Make sure you have the socket or wrench firmly seated on the head of the pin before cranking on it, since they can be stripped.

Thanks Jerry!!! Yes it was a 12point 1/4" socket. Use the right tool for the right job....... Guess I was over thinking the situation. Thanks again!!!
