Heated Grip Switch
« on: November 21, 2008, 03:17:24 PM »

The first 2 sets of heated grips on my SEUC were fairly easy to turn on/off. (Same with the heated grips on my FXDWG)
The new set, just installed, nearly requires me to pull over to adjust & turn the knob/switch.

Just wanted to see if this is a standard operation to need a vise-like grip to rotate this knob?  :nixweiss:

I can turn mine okay without gloves.  With gloves on, I really have to get a good grip on it, and then I only get it to turn a bit at a time, as my gloves slide on the surface of it.  I have to make about 6 turns of the hand to get it to go to the "6" position.

I find it easier to turn mine with gloves on for a better grip.  To get from 0 to 6 it take 3 re-grips.

Mine are hard to turn, especially with gloves on.  I've thought about dosing them with WD-40, but since these are known to die early, I didn't want to hasten their demise.

I bought heated grips for my 01 Ultra when they first were introduce, remember the rubbers, and install them myself. They were easy to turn.  With my 08 SERK, I had them install at the dealer before I pick up the bike. They were tight and hard to turn. Enough said, but that gave a two year warranty. The fact is I am down here if Houston, Texas what do I know about heated grips. Turn to the half way mark and ride. :coolblue:

I've had 2 sets, and they were fairly easy to turn.  Not like a radio knob, but easy enough that I could turn it with any set of gloves.

Do like I did and replace 'em with Heat Demons.

Me too!  The HD heated grips lasted all of a month or so before they quit working...  Heat Demons work great and adjust easily!   :2vrolijk_21:

It was about 37 degrees yesterday when I rode.  With my Gerbing heated gloves and the Heat Demons my hands got hot.  Had to turn them both down.  What a great problem to have!!!

Mine are very hard to turn, gloves or not.  And yesterday they quit working.  Oh well, in the shop for new heads, fuel filter shell, so just add it to the list, along with intermittent outages on the cruise.
