Molex wire-to-wire connectors
« on: August 14, 2008, 11:09:00 PM »

Does anyone know who manufactures Molex connectors for HD?  I need to get a male/female housing set before tearing up the fork and head light assembly.
I know Molex company makes connectors but they don't match HD connectors.
I want to do some rewiring for extra gadgets I'm putting on my bike.

Is this the head light conector... If so what you can do is just break the stock bulb off and sorder the wires to pins that what I did.

Jim HD dude might be a good source for that part.

Thanx Bubba, but it's for switch connector and I'd rather not splice and solder/crimp.

I am pretty sure that the connectors are made by Deutsch. You may also want to try digi-key. They sell alot of connectors also.

I get digi-key catalog, they don't have anything resembling the connectors in manual.
Deutsch looks more like it, I have to dig in a bit dipper to see what they have.

Most of the connectors are either Deutsch, the good weather-tite ones and AMP, the cheaper, unsealed ones. Most of the connectors inside the front fairing are now AMP where they used to be Deutsch.

There are a couple of threads on the site with sources for all of the different AMP connectors used.

Your friendly H-D dealership can order connectors for you.  If you have the wiring diagrams for your bike, you should be able to identify the exact ones you need by brand and number. The dealer can then cross reference that number to a part number.  As far as I can tell, the only bike that currently uses Molex exclusively is the VRSC.  I believe the rest of the bikes still use a mixture of connector brands.

Thanx, great resource thread.   :2vrolijk_21:
It would be great to have a section just for links on the site.  Not just for vendors, we could post links HD service check-up and other helpful links IMO.
