Where are they at with the 110" motor??
« on: September 07, 2008, 07:50:40 PM »

As I get nearer to buying an 09 I need to know if they have the issues with the 110" motor worked out yet. Sounds like some have had nightmares with the 07's and early 08's. I sure would like to put some money down on the SE Road glide but if the 110" isn't cured I may just buy a 96" and do the 103" upgrade. Anybody with real world experience and real facts, please respond. Thanx.

8000km since i had the "b" head gaskets fitted no other motor problems, just back from a 1600km ride, while washing the bike down i noticed a gearbox/ frame mounting bolt had nearly worked its way out.
07springer now has 16300km on the clock

get the extended warranty and don't worry about it.  An oil leak won't strand you.

:drink: :2vrolijk_21:  Springer 1:  I have over 10,200 miles on my 08 FLHTCUSE3 Ultra Classic and have not had a single problem with it mechanically.  I have two realls on it.  One involves the plastic fuel filter cup and has been fixes. The other is a recall on the 110 to change out the heads and valve guides along with a new cometic head gasket.  The dealership can only do one at a time and has to send in the exchanged heads in order to get a new kit.  I am 3rd on the list to get it done.  Went to Milwaukee for the 105th and did not have a single problem.  The bike runs strong.  Any 110 engine manufactured after mid April 2008, has the retrofit included and should not encounter a problem.  I would not hesitate about buying a SE bike.  They are awesome machines.   :orange:

Probably not enough miles on the '09 110 yet to know anything.  As I posted here, I thought for a moment I had the old 07 - 08 110 nightmare but it has been resolved (keeping air cleaner very clean). Lovin every mile on my '09 110.  It seems to be a really strong engine.  Fingers crossed and buying the extended warranty though.  Got about 1,200 miles on her and ride hard and don't worry about it.

I had an 07 SE Ultra that served me well for 17,000 mi, it was a little noisy but you could tell that the noise was coming from the rocker boxes (valve springs making contact,) so I was going to wait and get it fixed when the upgrade program was performed. I wound up trading for an 09 SE RG, I really like the new gear ratio's and the engine so far has been flawless, I would not hesitate to buy a 110 IMHO the problems with the first ones were minor and the Co obviously is standing behind their design based on the Expensive upgrade Program in place for the next two years.

I have 15,000 miles on my '08 SEUC.  The only problem I've had was a bad ring gear. Since mine is running fine my dealer wants to put off the head recall until this winter.

I guess it is only human nature that people shout loudest when things go wrong. Consequently we post a lot of threads about the issues.

I have an '07 SERK bought from new. Covered over 10,000 miles and have not had a single issue/leak or problem. I have experienced nothing but ear-to-ear satisfaction ;D and have no interest in swapping/changing the bike - just spending more to give it that 'individual' feel.

Buy - ride - enjoy! :)

..."the Co obviously is standing behind their design based on the Expensive upgrade Program in place for the next two years."

Two gaskets, two ACRs and a bolt is expensive?  And it only took them two model years to come up with that!  Sorry, not impressed with the way they "stand behind their design".
