Corbin Dual Tour with HD passenger hand rail
« on: September 04, 2008, 04:58:52 PM »

I want to use a HD passenger handrail, as well as bag guard rails with the Dual Tour. The Corbin web info on this is somewhat misleading, as their rep looked into it for me at Americade and said it should work, but does not. There is way too much mass in the area over the handrail where the rail mounts to the 2 studs in the rear fender. I called Corbin, and as expected, they told me that the seat is not designed for the handrail. With that I suggested(with tongue in cheek) that I send it back to them and they redesign it so that I can have what I want. The person I spoke with, as expected told me they will not do that. So folks, before I butcher this expensive seat, has anybody pulled this off with any success? As always, I am willing to spend vast amounts of money to get this done by a professional. Thanks...

Don't know about the passenger handrail but the mod for the rear crash bars is a very easy one. Twolane posted a easy to follow step by step post with picturea a couple of years ago. I have done it two a couple of Corbins with no problems at all and I'm am about as far from a wrench as can be.

Found the thread but I'm not having any luck opening it, maybe it will work better for you. http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?num=1111375290/0#0

Thanks guys, will attempt the bag guard mod first. I am a stubborn SOB and want to have the passenger handrail, requiring much more extensive engineering I am sure. Currently riding on a Road King Tallboy seat by HD in order to utilize guards and handrail, compromising comfort until I come to my senses...

Hey Firedood, no need to bug Don to re-post the seat mod pix, I pulled it off this afternoon without even swearing or throwing anything!! The text he had was sufficient. Next I tackle the handrail modification, it can be done, provided that there is enough base to grind off of that seat pan.
