09 SERG Modifications
« on: September 10, 2008, 08:56:14 AM »

First time on here folks... go easy on me.  I have a 09 SERG coming in a couple of weeks, and what I am "gleaning" from some of the discussions is that the 110 is not as "punchy" as it could be.  Any suggestions as to pipe or slip-on modifications, air cleaner mods, anything else that folks see as a "needed" change... for performance and sound.

From a function standpoint... I am looking for luggage rack options for the CVO... don't really care for the MOCO version... anything else known to fit?

Much appreciated.

Welcome from Salem, Oregon and Congratulations on your new SERG! I think after you take ownership of your SERG that you will find that there is plenty of "punch" with the 110 engine. As with all Harley's I expect that I have to change the exhaust and the handlebars. You might want to wait for the exhaust manufacturers to catch up with solutions for the 09' model bikes before you make a decision on the pipes. There are some ongoing discussions of some temporary exhaust solutions in the 2000 FLTRSEI/2001 FLTRSEI2/2009 FLTRSE3 Screamin' Eagle Road Glide section http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?board=7.0 that you might want to check out.

Welcome and Congrats on your new purchase!! This a great site isn't it!!  I put on Fuel Moto's (fuelmotousa.com ) setup on my 07 SEUC. It is their Jackpot slip-ons mufflers with special baffles, SE air cleaner and Power Commander. I know Jamie is working on the maps for the 09's as we speak. The Mufflers have a nice deep sound, I love them. I live in Vegas and Dyno-Jet dynoed my bike a few months ago. They also dynoed an 08 SEUC w/Rinehart TD's. I got to look at the numbers for both set up's and my set up put out 4 more HP and 6 more TQ than the Rinehart setup. The great thing about it is he sells the whole package for $689.00. Just something for you to look into.

Welcome 8 from Ohio. The only two rack options I know are the detachable luggage rack and the detachable tour pak rack. I tried the luggage rack and didn't like it. Ended up w/ the tour pak rack recognizing that it would only be on the bike when traveling and served as a suitable platform for various bags and coolers. Also, when I'm ready to do the tour pak it's a piece already purchased. Like others, I'm waiting on the aftermarket to get the exhaust sorted out before I change out the wimpy sounding pipes. Gonna get the SERT though to have it covered under the original warranty.

Welcome from a fellow Texan.  :2vrolijk_21:  When I first saw the 09 SERG with the bag extensions, the first mufflers I thought of were made by Bassanni , and are 4", just like the stockers, and they make some that are slash down that would match the line of the bags. I used to have some of the slash ups and they sound pretty good. On the rack, doesn't Kuryakyan make some? Good luck with the SERG. Whereabouts ( TX word ) in Tx are you from?

Austin... is where Im at... I see that Kuryaken has a pretty cool rack... but it looks like it fits on the "older" 07 bikes with the chrome mounts on the fender... no longer there... maybe they will modify.. D

Know that the old detachable stuff will not work w/ the new SERG. Totally different mounting system. Gonna earn / spend chrome cash to carry anything.
