anyone install oil temp gauge in an 09 yet
« on: September 15, 2008, 07:25:30 PM »

Hello,

I just bought a oil temp gauge kit PN # 75320-05 to replace the useless air temp gauge. I read the directions and they dont make much sense. There is a 90 degree fitting that needs to be put on but where they are talking about putting it is not on my 09 RoadGlide. They show it going in one of the two hoses that are just in front of the transmission on right side and then go to the motor. The 09 has no hoses in that area. Any help would be apreciated.

Thanks

The external oil lines were eliminated in '07.  According to the H-D accessory catalog, the later models require an adapter kit, P/N 26133-07, MSRP $56.00, along with the gauge kit.  You may want to look for some of the threads on this site that detail how to install the sensor in the oil pan, which is the best method, and forget Harley's instructions.

Here's one thread, and there is another one listed in this one that has details.

Roady,

Take a look at this part:  #63004-09. It's a replacement for your dipstick that gives oil level and temp.  May be a simple solution.

Thanks Greg, but I already have the gauge for the fairing and also have heard that some folks have had bad luck with that part. Tha gauge kit isnt much more then the dipstick one.
