Issues while on Trip...............
« on: August 10, 2009, 02:05:03 AM »

I had this situation happen 4 times while on my trip, wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem...

While climbing a hill, putting a slight load on the motor, I suddenly started to get a louder intake noise and power started dropping off. When I pulled in the clutch, the bike died, and the minute I let out the clutch and restarted the bike, I was back to full power. It sounded to me like the ACR's were opening up and bleeding off compression.

Anyone? Anyone?

Twice my SERG has felt like it ran on one cylinder and no throttle response.  Pulled in the clutch, revved it up, let out clutch and continued on WTF ??? ???  Thinking about it, yeah it did have some funky sound.  Happens so seldom and quickly, it's hard to pinpoint.

UPDATE!!!

Well, the dealer has thrown parts at it.......

Replaced fuel and injector relays, did wiggle test on all the wires (passed), tested ACR's (passed). Picking bike up tomorrow, yeah, I'll make San Juan Batista, waiting on fuel pressure regulator, will replace when I return.

Here's the kicker, because of the way the bike was running, they had to replace the spark plugs because the tech did not like the way the rear plug looked and they made mention that they were going to charge me for them..... I say BS, if the bike was running right, the plugs would be ok......... We will see!

What about a EITMS (engine idle temperatre management system) malfunction. The tech didn't like the look of the rear plug, which is the one that is shut off during an EITMS episode. The bike sounds louder could be the sound of the rear cylinder cutting off?

Just a suggestion I have had not expierenced any malfunctions like you have.

Well, picked up bike this afternoon. Seems to be running better, we'll see after this weekend. Going to try and leave from Clovis around 2:00 in the afternoon. See you all Friday.......
