New Fullsac 2 1/4" cores
« on: October 20, 2008, 08:25:15 PM »

Steve informs me today that he will be offering 2 1/4" core's!  I am told It is for anyone able to sqeeze the last bit of performance or has a need for maximum rumble.  This is a 15 minute swap that has a factory perfect fit. They can also be swaped out at any later date in 5 minutes with out removing the mufflers. This is the way to go in my oppinion with 1/4 the cost of aftermarket mufflers! A fantastic Quality product. 1 1/4 to 2 1/4 sizes. Fullsac@ 928-505-2912

Steves been great to work with, he also mentioned that he is probably going to make an aftermarket header pipe for about half of what harley wants for theres and it would still make it a true dual but that won't be out for a while.

Thanks for the plug Hyway Star!

The 2.25 cores are for the guys that still need more sound level than the 2.0s. More power than the 2.0? Not likely, your still flowing through a 1.75 inlet. At 139.00, They do cost 20 bucks more than the smaller ones due to additional material cost and labor. The 2.25  require an additional reducer to be formed and welded at the inlet end, and the bigger tubing means bigger invoice from the steel shop.  And of course, CVO memebers still get 10% off that.

Thanks everyone for your continued support!

Steve at Fullsac Perf was very helpful to me.  The 2"ers sound great on the SERG without being too loud.  Most articles I've read call for a 2" pipe for ideal power so it seems Steve is right again.  Note that our power Sensai, Mr. Kerr started with the 1&3/4" pipes.

I don't want to preach but guys who want "maximum rumble" and then show it off only lead to more regulations and police enforcement which we can all do without.  Two summers ago the CHP cracked down on PCH up and down the Los Angeles, Orange and Ventura counties and started citing everyone they could find with aftermarket pipes.  It was in response to the homeowners and business owners along the beach who could not stand the noise.  I don't want a quiet bike.  When my SERG was stock, I had to watch the tach to avoid lugging.  I also don't want to be a target....  So, how about it?

Can someone let us know whether or not the bike will need to be remapped ( by adding a supertuner) or if the standard downlowd willl be enough, after the 2.25 install--if all that is done is remove the cat and install the 2.25. Assume the stock AC remains on the bike....

Also--compared to the 1.75...what type of TQ loss are we looking at assuming only the above mentioned mods. At this time--i would like to NOT have to use a super tuner unless i have to. John

The 2.25s will be louder for sure. But, Harley's new 2 into 1 into 2 is cancelling some additional noise over real true duals. That with the packing material in the stock mufflers and we are still nowhere near Rhinehart true dual loud. I'm no fan of loud pipes, but I do believe its possible to have them and not piss people off. Riding with just a little consideration of others goes a long way. Hard to understand, but not everybody likes the sound of a hopped up Harley bangin the rev limiter right in front of their house? Personally I don't get it?

Steve,

Do the 2.25" cores maintain the same low end torque as the 2" cores?   At some point increasingly larger diameters  will have to compromise low end torque in favor of higher HP later in the curve.

Thanks

I havn't done any in house dyno testing on the 09 110" yet. Can't understand why somebody won't just drop off their new 110" and let me beat on it in the dyno room? Then I could answer all these questions.  Past testing on a strong running 95" motor with true duals. The 2.25 cores lost HP and torque over the 2.0s. The bigger motor may like the 2.25s? Its all speculation until we give it a run on the "lie detector".
My .02 cents. Buy the exhaust parts that give the sound level you can live with all day. At the end of a 600 mile day, 3 hp more wont mean a thing if your ears are bleeding and your wife is pissed.
