One thing I have found on my '09 already, with only 150 miles on it, is that the location of the rear pipe is now in a position to melt the heel of your boot or any other meltable apparel you happen to be wearing.  I was pretty upset to see that I had boot marks on my pipe already...luckily it cleaned off.  I wear ski pants to ride in the cold weather, and I have a bad feeling that I am going to be in for a problem that I never went through before.  On my RK, I had a kit that moved my floorboards outward about 1" on each side.  I think that would help, and make for a more comfortable ride, however I don't know if they make the kit for the CVO floorboard mounting (chrome) or for '09's in general.  If anyone is aware of a kit to move the boards outward, I would appreciate a message.

If anyone wants to design some, they were just a bushing formed to the same outer shape as the floorboard mounts, which mounted between the mount and the frame, and then they came with longer bolts.  The fact that I don't remember where I got them doesn't help much either.

Check out Kuryaken (sp?).  I think they make the floorboard extenders and I believe they are chrome.

Kuryakyn has them for 92 to 08 and in black only.  I found where I got my last kit (www.harleygoodies.com) and I just sent them a note to find out the status for 09's, since they also list 92 to 08.  They just add $12 to their pricing for chrome on that site.

The floorboard extensions that move the floorboards outward about 1" are available in chrome at www.harleygoodies.com/hdf .  They offer a discount if you are a member of www.hdforums.com (free registration).  I just registered and then placed my order.  Pretty impressive service...I just e-mailed them a little bit ago and received a personal e-mail back at 12:57am my time directing me to their proper webpage to find the 09's (just over 1 hour response time late Saturday night).  Again, I had these on my Road King, and they made the ride a lot more comfortable, and as by-products make the bike look a bit wider and make it easier to clean the exhaust and inner side of the floorboards.  I don't know how to go about it, but perhaps there is a way to get this forum set up with a discount with them also.  No, I have no relationship to this company.

I contacted Kuryakyn last week and discussed the floorboard relocators for the 09 as well.  They told me that part # 4588 would also fit the 09's as well.  that they have not updated their websites and vendor catalogs to reflect this. I have ordered them for my 09 FLTHCUSE4 and well let you know this week how they work.

I don't think that I saw chrome listed from Kuryakyn.  I really don't think it would matter, since the frame is black and the mounts are chrome.  It's just a matter of where the starting point if for the chrome and it will probably look fine either way.  It's not like it's a highly visible area to start with.  I received notice that mine have shipped already, so I should have mine here in a few days.
