regardless of what tuner you use, lowering the AFR is how you reduce heat and make the bike run cooler, you'll also gain some power...
this is the purpose of ANY tuner. (TMax, SERT, TTS, Daytona, etc...)

the SERT will still use the stock O2 sensors, but you can tell it where you want it to run in closed loop (using the O2 sensors).
the Tmax is always in closed loop because it uses different O2 sensors (if you have the autotune option), and will try and optimize the AFR using the O2 sensors, but with either system YOU still need to set it to the AFR that you want it to use.
wether you just use a "stock" map that comes with the tuner, or you customize the map.. you have total control.. :2vrolijk_21:

I had the tmax on my '06 Deuce, I removed it when I traded it in on my FXSTSSE.
I had it installed on my FXSTSSE up until about a month ago.
I now have the TTS Mastertune on the FXSTSSE..

I'm liking the TTS better than the Tmax.

Added the K&N air filter and a SERT.  Got the bike Dyno'd.  91.31 pwr.  105.25 torque.  Decided to wait on the V& H Big Radius pipes.

So you think the TTS is the way to go.... Over the SERT

yes.
after using both, that is my opinion. :2vrolijk_21:
plus, you get a lot of technical support from TTS.

there is NO tech support from HD for the SERT............

Thanks,

I have been kicking this around for a couple days on what the hell to do for the ECM,

I've used PC in the past and it works, but I have had a couple problems with it...

I think I'm going to finish this message and order the TTS..

thanks again.....

I'm no expert but you might be pushing it with 2" baffles.....
just keep checking the plugs to see if you're running lean... :2vrolijk_21:

to program the SERT all you need to do is remove the seat from the bike, the ECM plug is right there.
you just need to have a computer close enough to the bike to progam the SERT............(a notebook computer would be ideal..)

Just how easy is it?  I already have the SERT here and was going to have the shop do the tune.  I'll be the first to admit that I know absolutely nothing about settings in any way whatsoever.  I will have CAT removed, Fullsac 2.25", and Zipper Maxflo air cleaner on when it's time to calibrate.  I don't have a laptop, so I would have to borrow one (which may be an adventure in itself).  Is it really that straightforward that I would be able to complete this with confidence that I have done it correctly?  I'm not sure what they even charge to do the SERT, but it brings the prices closer together, since if you get the dealer to do it, you don't need to buy the software or the cable.

One other question...I read somewhere that a lot of tunes are not done correctly, since the shop isn't even aware that there is a CAT installed.  On the flip side, if they assume that I do have a CAT, and I have removed that, is that something that I should make the shop aware of prior to the calibration?
