Diamondback Clutch Cable
« on: December 02, 2008, 12:53:59 AM »

Spoke with a member here a month or so ago about these cables offered in the Harley catalog.  Promised photos when the cable finally got installed.  Here it is:

Starts out with an unfortunately poorly lit image.  Even so notice no rubber boot over the adjuster.  Polished stainless outer sleeve slides up to allow access to the adjusters or down to cover them when done.  Sealed by o-rings top and bottom when slid down.  Thinner and cleaner look than the old rubber boot.  Outer sleeve is up in the image.

Outer sleeve back down.  Normal operation looks like this.

Both ends are shiny bits also.  No more dull/rusted looking/dingey cable ends.

I especially liked the improvement at the tranny housing.  The fitting there looks much better than the fittings on the stock cables after they've been in place for a bit.  Used to cover them with that bulky cover that Harley and the aftermarket offered.  Didn't like it very well.  But it was better than the ugly stock cable ends.  Now it's fine without the cover.

Cable comes with a piece of clear shrink wrap to shink in place at whatever will be the worst point of contact.  Whatever the inside is made of also makes it much smoother/easier operating cable also.  All in all it's a nice bit.
