I thought I would ask this group if anyone has used a solo seat with a chopped Tour Pak mounted on a detachable solo rack?
I am wondering if the chopped TP would be to far forward for comfort? At 5' 10" 225 I'm a little thick.
Would the pad on the TP be too high on the back for comfort since it will be higher on a rider than in the BSR postion?
Could the TP be moved back on the rack enough to use the detachable drivers backrest?

I think the chopped TP would look better mounted on a solo than the two up rack as the picture shows.

I appreciate anyones help and experience on this matter.

Probably not the best shots for seeing the tourpak, but these were in the gallery...

Judging by the smile on her face, she could lose the whole tour pac and the day wouldn’t be a total loss. :smilie_staub:

Ah hell I've done that before.  Stop for gas and wonder "how long have I been stupid this time?"  At least Mrs We is leaning on hers so it's not going anywhere.  I probably had loose crap inside of mine screaming "help me, help meeeee."

Amen to that DJ.  If there's a site Saint it's got to be Mrs We.  Have only been fortunate enough to see her in person a few times.  But have never once seen her in even moderate proximity to her bike without a big smile.

OK, all the joking aside.
the way the tour pak is out of the box, moved to the forward position, you will be very squished in.  And there is no way back, without removing the tour pak of course.  I liked it for a very short time. It did get rid of the space by leaving the tour pak in it's standard location. If you can find a way to move it back some, maybe it is doable.  Otherwise, I just found the whole tour pak to be a waste of space and just did not look quite right.  Now I ride without tourpak at all.  If I need the luggage space, I put a removable passenger pillion on the fender, hang a t-bag off the back of my back rest and if I wanted even more luggage space, I spider-webbed an extra helmet to the luggage rack.  If one really wants to, we can really load these bikes down.  I only want to if I am going to be away from home for many multiple days.

Thanks Mrs.We

That's what I was worried about. I'll have to look at the pic in the catalog to see the TP could be mounted back farther. If not I'll just continue putting the pillion on.

Didn't I see a bracket that mounts on the two up rack allowing the TP to be moved back? If so, will it work on a solo rack?

Since we don't ride two up on any of our bikes, moving the TP back has never come into play, but the concept sounds like it would be the answer.  I just got lazy about chasing it down, not so much for comfort, but it did just kind of look odd, somehow.  Then when my bike did not have it on at all, I'd see people doing owl turns with their heads when I'd go by.  I think it just must look better somehow.  For around town, the two saddle bags are as much storage as I need, and if we travel, I can expand as described earlier.  I asked a lot about it on here at the time I was struggling with it, but no really came back with an emphatic, this is how you do it response.  I now don't think about it.  All I could say would be, Just Do It.  Then let us know what you think.
