Install FLHTCUSE Heated grips on SERG
« on: October 05, 2009, 09:26:09 AM »

I know all the problems with HD heated grips ( I have a CUSE 3), but I would like to install a set on my  09 SERG. The Heat Demons are not an option for me, I am not interested on reaming my handlebars. It appears the throttle grip sensor is the same part number, ( both FLHTCUSE 5 AND FLTRSE3) and has the connector for heated grips. I think I can add the left side grip ( snake wire thru bars) and plug in the left side grip ( looks like rt side harness is already there). From there I will make my own harness to tie into the bike. Any thoughts? am I nuts for considering it?

Wouldn't say you were nuts for considering this.... only thing I will say is I'd go w/o heated grips before I'd attempt to install/use the H-D brand heated grips. If I remember correctly they (MoCo) have a disclaimer that they are not recommended for handlebars w/internal wiring, add to that they (most of them) haven't lasted very long when installed from factory. Many members have been thru multiple sets of them before going aftermarket. If I had to have heated grips and didn't want to go w/aftermarket I would get heated gloves instead. JMHO.

@ motor1 : Did you do the heated grips on the SERG ?
What is the part number and how did the mounting work and the grips ?
