I haven't left yet, I’m scrambling at the moment trying to figure out what to do - fly to Vegas/Reno or ride my K1200S cause the SEEG is definitely out. My bike was at the dealer for almost the whole month of August while they tried to resolve my wobble problem. Just got it out yesterday and did my test ride today.  (Will post all my wobble tests/results once the dealer gives me a listing of everything they have done to date.) Off topic but - I came as close to dying today as I ever want to get. In the past I have always been able to ease off the throttle (can't ride through it like a sport bike) and the bike settles down. Today it was a full wobble not a weave and increasing or decreasing throttle worsened it. I thought the bike was going to self destruct under me. It lasted for 2-3 minutes and I backed up traffic on a major highway while I slowly dropped to 80kph/40 mph before the bike settled down. I'm still shaking from this one.

I did get to test the saddle shields just before I took it in and again today although it wasn't that hot today. The shields are by far the best thing I have ever done with the SEEG. They make an incredible difference for me. I also like the Freedom Wings but feel that the saddle shields make more of a difference than the wings do especially at slow speeds or in stop and go traffic. I am sure you won't be disappointed if you decide to buy them.

PS: I have the Ride Str8 installed but it hasn’t helped my situation.

Just answered your PM Darrell.  Man, that stinks about your bike.......especially with the ride straight thing.  Does the dealership not ride it to experience the problem or are they sticking their head in the sand......ostritch style?  You know there was one guy that posted on here awhile back (met him on the same web site that you and I met on) that HD bought his bike back because of that problem.  You might do a search and find who he is to contact him.

Thanks JC for the tip. The dealer did do a test ride but I doubt they would push it like I did. On a smooth very straight piece of the 4 lane highway I slowly brought it up to just under 100 mph. I know this is a high speed but a wobble under these conditions translates to a wobble at about 70-75 mph in a sweeping corner. I was too nervous to test it at the lower speed in a corner in case I couldn't get out of it, and I thought I would get enough feedback going straight to back out of it if she became unstable. I didn't get that feedback, it went from stable to completely out of control in the blink of an eye. I will talk to the dealer about sending it to the factory for repair, my test riding days are over for awhile.

True Track or ride str8 isn't going to help this bike!

Good luck Darrellh on finding out what the problem is!

Let us know when you do!

Hey, Darrell just reading your post & had the same issue with the wobble on my way to sturgis.I thought it had something to do with the suspension? So when I got to sturgis I pulled into the progressive booth & switched to progressive 440s. I will say it did help. But I still feel like it wants to go into that crazy wobble if I go fast enough. So if you get rid of the wobble or if anyone else has the answer to this crazy phenomenon please post.              Thanks in advance [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

If the dealer is willing to help by giving me the details on everything they checked I will start a new thread posting all the details along with everything I have tried to date. Please be careful, I started out (when the bike was new) with a weave/rear steer, only at higher speeds and in sweepers, but it has now progressed into a full tank slapper at lower speeds in the sweepers and/or higher speeds on the straights.

I have the 440's installed. It was one of the first things I tried.

Darrel, this is offered only as a "for what it's worth" kind of thing; but here goes.   Several years ago I bought a salvaged Road King that didn't look too bad on visual inspection.  It seemed all cosmetic damage.

Repaired the bike and put it on the road to immediately discover behaviors much like you're describing.  Thought it'd never stop shaking.  After a fair bit of investigation problem ended up being a swingarm that wasn't true side-to-side.  When everything else on the bike was otherwise level the left side of the swingarm (at the axle center point) was about an 1/8" higher than was the other side.

If you took the swingarm off, stripped it down and laid it on a flat surface you could see how it had been tweaked.  On the bike, however, it was tough to see and find.

Darrell, on keeping cool, I think Jim (hd-dude) sells the cool snakes.  If not maybe one of the other guys here knows of a web site.  They've made that stuff into a vest now, too.  Holly had one on when we went to Yosemite National Park.  Wet it, put it on and put on some kind of vented jacket over it.  She said it keeps her cool for about four hours if you put something vented over it.

The seat & backrest is a 05 SEEG stock seat which is a lot more comfortable than the o4 seat. The passenger grabrail is an H/D grabrail that was painted with the H/D chrome hand grabs. I have cut the grabrail down since this pic. I had to remove about 5/8" from the height due to the lower seat profile on the SEEG. The underside of the girlfriends legs would just contact the grabrail before cutting it down. Now there is no contact at all. She likes the grabrail. I have also had some custom drink holders made that mount on the grabrail but they arn't back from chrome yet.

Hey Darrellh, just a heads up if you will: write ups in the BMW Owners News are saying to expect less than 2,000 miles out of the rubber on the new K1200S! I thought that I wanted one until I heard that! Might have to plan on a tire change before heading back from Reno. Just FYI no onion busting here. Be careful out there...

Thanks for the advice. Spent all night getting a Radar Detector hooked up on it. I have about 2k miles on the rubber (Metz) now but they look preety good. I'm pretty sure I can make it to Vegas where I have a set of new rubber waiting for me. Also have them installing the BMW GPS system, it's a lot cheaper down there than it is up here. As a backup I have the dealer in Reno lined up for another change just in case I get carried away down there.
