WOW .......Harley has not corrected this problem YETTTT.I had a 2007 SE Ultra 110 in that on my first ride the oil cooler line came loose. The OIL COOLER oil line pop off of the nipple on the oil cooler.(Because the hose clamp the secures the hose was never crimped) So on my 1 st ride with my local HOG chapter . About 80 miles on the bike the line decided to POP off spraying all of the SYN 3 oil out of the front of the bike down to the ground in front of my rear tire for me to SLIP SLIDE on it.WHAT A RIDE THAT WAS . I was scared to death when I could NO longer control my New Screaming Dresser on the road.So all of the people that i was riding with just gave me room to try to SLIDE to the side of the road.To add insult to injury all of the local dealers could NOT rescue me .So after a hour on side of the road I had to use my AAA card to get me back to the nearest dealer to fix the Oil Cooler. What the dealer found was that the oil cooler ..line clamp was never CRIMPED ( it was still sitting pushed up on the OIL COOLER hose ) Harley or the dealer I bought the bike from would not give me a EXTENDER warranty to cover this problem. All they did was to send me a $50.00 credit to my local dealer to offset the cost of trying to get the OIL Stains off of my LEATHER Tour pack.WOW THANKS HARLEY....No wonder several months later I bought a GOLDWING.I did not have faith in the Harleys BEST bike they produced for that year....But since then I have Purchased USED Harley's,Thank You Harley....any Questions feel free to E-Mail me ....krich21704@yahoo.com
Corrected what yet? Seems like the problem was an uncrimped oil cooler line. OK, should have been done correctly at the factory or, more importantly, caught and repaired during the PDI. Obviously, it should have not fallen thru the cracks in either instance, but hell ..... no sense interpreting the situation as a major manufacturing terminal, worlds coming to an end design flaw. Chit happens with anything manufactured, but I, for one accept the responsibility to go thru every fittting and critical fastener on a new bike as if no one had inspected it or did their job as it was intended whether it be a motorcycle, cage or lawnmower. Makes life a whole lot simpler to spend a couple of hours getting to learn your bike than to allow the process to blind luck......
