I was born at the Northridge hospital, lived in Encino most of my live, was living in Simi Valley at the time the Northridge quake hit. (13 miles away)

I thought the roof was going to cave in, we slept on the front lawn in tents and had a big BBQ for a few days after that . :drink:

It was dawn and the sun was just showing some light and all we could see was black smoke from the SFV. We thought LA was gone for all we knew  :nixweiss:

I had a freezer full of elk and other venison. Thawing out was not good so we threw two days of Bar B Ques. Everybody was in the same boat so we pitched in to make the best of it. The only way to get anywhere was by bike and I had plenty of trips with neighbors on the back of my old ironhead. We were reduced to camping out as well because people were scared to go inside their homes. No power for 11 days and cell phones were in their infancy stages. It took months to get any sense of a normal life. I lived in Lake View Terrace, about 4 miles from the epicenter. Isn't Northridge hospital the one that had the whole 4 story south wall collapse? That was something to see....all the rooms with the beds intact and no exterior wall.
