Hoist.....not really....I'm out in the NW riding some beautiful rides (well...in my mind this time of year)....only 3-4 more months til the roads are clear and somewhat clean of road chemicals.
BTW, I just spoke to the GM I'm buying my bike through and he is going to Milwaukee on the 7th, so I hope to have an answer to my question from the MOCO.  In the meantime, feel free to weigh in here if anyone has any info.

I had a dealer tell me you could order any of the three color schemes.

Thanks 212. Reason I asked is that "212" is a NYC Area Code, Manhattan specifically. ;)

I think one of my HOG chapters is set up for a tour of the CVO factory in York.  It doesn't do much good now, but that's a question I would like to get answered if possible.  Maybe they just go with a color scheme until they run out of that batch of paint, and then move on to the next and rotate as the paint is available to them.  I know this much.  Ask 10 dealers and get 10 different answers.

The painted parts are not from the same factory were the bikes are assembled. In fact I believe the sheet metal parts are not even from the same factory as the plastic parts. Everything comes together during production. So its not like: "Today is Monday, let's built 20 red ones". I think they started in July with a production of colors to complete several hundred of each color to get these out to the dealers as soon as feasible, then later started to produce the colors according to preorders (by customers or even dealers). The only exception was the anniversary run in '08. This is also the reason, why there are different total numbers by color. Having said that, I do not understand why a dealer at this time would not be able to get any of the three, just as the paying customer would like to buy.

Ride safely,

Just goes to show why I'm confused!!  I've heard all of these also, but like 1aba.....I'm not sure which, if any, is correct.  Hopefully when the GM gets back from the MOCO next week, I may have more info.  I'll pass on whatever I hear on this thread regardless.  Thanks all for the info.  This board is very helpful.
BTW the 212hjet is for a new Hamilton Jet Pump model I chose when I had my whitewater jet boat built some years ago and have just stuck with it, or it with me for so long that I continue to use it for about everything.

HD is producing all 3 color schemes at once but in small numbers.  I got my harvest orange in early December (a late November delivery).  At the same time another guy was buying the Maroon one.  And there was a silver/blue that had been there.  Hope this helps.  I do know of 2 dealers here who are frustrated because they can't get definitive answers from HD Corp. as to when and how many will be delivered next.

BB  congrats on your new ride. I hope this is the case and they can change the color of the March bike into orange from ruby red/maroon.   I really like the color.  Some of the members were kind enough to send me good digitals they had taken as they said the HD site and the other limited ones ddin't do a good job of depicting it.  What do you think of it in real time and life??
Enjoy it.

The pictures on the HD site don't do the color schemes any justice at all.  I love the harvest orange and the way they blended it into the pewter color at the top of the bike.  There is a lot of orange and gold flake in the pewter color that really makes the color stand out in the sunlight.  The harvest also has silver fleck in it.  The combinations with the strpes makes it really blend.  I've had a lot of compliments.

HD is coming out with more in March.  The dealer in Athens, GA has ordered one.  My dealer in ATL (Earl Smalls HD) found mine at a smaller dealership in NC located on an area where the client base was least likely to be able to buy a CVO.  Thus, they were willing to part with it.  If you haven't done so already, you may push your dealer to do some scouting around like that.

Ride safe - Bikin' Bob
