Road Glide Euro Conversion Part Number question
« on: February 25, 2009, 03:20:47 PM »

I read all the posted info. for converting  the RG to the European-spec headlight assemply using HD-Part No.68995-01. I went to the stealer to discuss this and they said I need HD Part no. 68996-01B for my 07 RG.  When I called Zanotti's to ask them which part number, they did not know for sure.  They did say that the  Part no.68996-01B shows to have a left side bent which they said is for driving on the left side of the road, which (you;d think) wouldn't work in America.  My question then is this: Will part No.68996-01 fit my 07 RG?  I need help! ???

Greetings,

The 68995-01 is the correct part number.  I had this on my 2003 Roadglide that I traded in for my S/E.   I even went out to the garage to check the part number as I still have the box it came in.  It is confusing as this number was left out of some of the later parts books and the whole right dip left dip will really screw you up.   The 68995-01 is listed as right dip and says so right on the box.  Seems back asswords to me but it is what it is.  The light is much better and you get a cool little "marker" light that almost no-one but you will ever know is there.   Much better light.   One of the best things I did.

Just remember that the on listed for left dip is for England and Japan where, as we all know, they drive on the wrong side of the road.  The 68995-01 was listed as a European light.  Now if I just knew what the Euro S/E light box looked like I might do it all again.

Hope that helps.

Thanks so much for the info smenard415.  What acutally comes with the part#68995-01?  Is it the two reflectors and the black backing plate with adjusting screws?  I mean, is it a complete unit, or just the two light housings? :o

Having done the Euro conversion myself I wouldn't spend the money again. I would go right to HID's and call it done.

HJ, It's a little known thing that we do here in the States, when someone from Europe moves here, especially if they ride a motorcycle, we all gather and invent someway to either make them go back quickly or never want to leave. The first is ez as we just drag you around on a rope until you decide, Time to leave, and the other.....well i cant say, so when you comin to visit? hmmmm?
me and my friends are waiting,

i THINK we should be talking about right or left hand driving in different countries.

When i moved from england to switzerland i had to replace the bike headlamp glass to the european version.

The euro conversion is the painful number anyone in England sees every day in the financial part of the evening news. Currently it is around 1,13.

Kingwoodlee,

The whole headlight bucket.  Even comes with bulbs.  The US version comes out this unit goes in.  Unlike one of the other posters here it was one of the single best things I ever did to my 2003 Roadglide.  Much better light pattern and better distance at night.  The side of the road and signs are suddenly visable.  It is a good thing, Yes?

Hey Smenard415,
Thanks so much for the info.  I realize HID is probably better, but I like being able to change a bulb on a road trip, if one were to go out.  I have a plan to modify the stock housing assembly so you can remove it on the road without taking off the entire fairing (stupid design-IMHO!) off.  Anyway, I love this Forum.  The information you people provide is mind boggling.

Happy now
