michelin commander and michelin macadam 50s (130/90/16)
« on: January 01, 2009, 05:56:35 AM »

I'm about to order a new rear tire for my 87 fxr. Does anyone have any info regarding the 2 michelins above that are available?

I was going to go with the Commander, HOWEVER THE CHEAPER MACADAM 50 is an unknown to me, I already have a commander on the front.

Thanks
Bill

Like you I was curious about the Michelin tires and recently opted for a set of Commanders for my '07 FLHTC(X). Unfortunately I have not yet put enough miles on them to offer an informed opinion and now that I have taken delivery of my '09 SERG3, it is unlikely the '07 will get ridden enough for me to ever know.

The purple bike is getting a set of Michelins right now.  Been wanting to try them anyway.

I don't have any experience with the Macadam 50, but a friend has an '88 FXRT and swears by the Commanders.  They're the only thing he'll put on it.

I switched from the OEM Harley-branded Dunlops to Commanders on my SEEG a little over a year ago and really like them.  Seem to stick in the curves much better, smoother highway ride, and I like the smooth sidewall look on that bike.

Good luck with whatever you choose, but if you've already got a Commander on the front and it's in good shape, you might be better off slapping a matching rear on there for now and then trying the Macadams with the next set of tires if you're unhappy with the Commanders at that point.

I found out that my local dealer is giving 20% off on tires , soooooo.... I ordered up a Commander rear to match the front!

I also have a pair of Fournale air shocks going on simultaneously.
Should make the old girl (and me) very happy!
I'll let you know how it all turns out!
