big inch twin cam ok with supermeg?
« on: December 21, 2008, 07:13:27 PM »

did some tuning today...added open end cap and reduced discs from 28 to 20...the afr went way lean at wot above 4000...we corrected both cylinders to 13.0 (that's what mike cat wanted, I suggested 13.5)...didn't touch timing, I may do that later with the laptop...the man was very busy and I didn't want to hold him up

I'm not presenting this chart as a scientific comparison for the following reasons:  uncorrected numbers, different day, much better conditions today vs oct 2

because the afr went lean, does that mean the pipe flows better with open end cap?...any opinions/experience on whether the supermeg baffle core/collector/headpipes are too small...the best run was 120/120 uncorrected 5th gear dj250 (no tricks)

imoh, always start with an open end cap on an 88" or bigger or it cut off higher rpm's.   axil

Chip was in the 140/140 range running a SuperMeg on his T-Man Jims 120" Frontier.

Yes the AFR  went lean because of more flow through the pipe....the more back pressure the richer it will get.
