seat issues
« on: July 16, 2005, 06:56:38 PM »

just wondering if anyone else has had problems with the vinyl cracking and splitting on your seat? It is along that stiching where the rider's backrest goes into the seat. I am amazed, that the material on these seats is so thin on these expensive bikes. Is there any suggestion on where to get these seats recovered to stock condition?

I've had two seats crack and split in that area, on my last Ultra Classic.  The first was covered under the new bike warranty.  The second was not covered by the extended warranty.

Any good upholesterer in your area should be able to recover it......well, automotive upholesterer, that is.

My concern is keeping the same material so as to have the SE style seat. I will do some calling around. Thank you

Yes, the stock seat is available. Dakota, before you spend money for repairs, go to your dealer, it may be covered under warranty if defective.

I'll check but am sure they will not honor because of being a 2001. Guys are having trouble getting things taken care of when the bike is within warranty. thank you for the suggestion.

my SEI2 has the same issue, the leather insert split at the seams from the vinyl. The replacement is 400.00. Special Order. I dont see them fixing it.
