Ken,

Thought you said you were in charge and didnt need any permission?   You only had to ask for forgiveness.   Just curious based on the above budgetary constraints.  Besides she knows that you know that she knows now.   Are those wad cutters or buck shot your shooting yourself in the foot a$$ with ?

ohh and per Ole Hubbard V-Rod don't count its not really a Harley.   Ken you were fine there based on that thinking.

Happy New Year !

MasterTune
Roll your own Air Breather with K&N or similiar filter
Depending on preferece
True Duals or 2 into 1 like D&D or Slip ons or baffle changes such as full sacs
Dyno

Ride away.   I think you have to up your dollar quota a bit not much but a bit to facilitate the dyno tune and tuner if you go with replacement pipes.

If you do air cleaner, slip ons or cores and tuner you can probably get a way with the built in maps on the Mastertune and if you are even slightly computer literate you could do the auto tuning to the bike yourself with a computer and a little patience.   I just did something similiar for a friend of mine and removed the throttle lag and tuned his bike up the canned map was REALLY close for his.

Hey all -- sorry it took so long to get back to this.  Long day at work but had two nearly 60 degree days in a row, and thus, rode to work.  Round trip is 30 miles, but for some reason that 30 turned into 60 today.  In any event, thanks for all of the good suggestions as to what to do next.  My wife isn't all that bad -- she just had to live through the time I bought a 96 classic from the Atlanta police after being used for escort duty during the Olympics, and watch me tear it completely down, have it custom painted, chromed out the you know what, etc., etc.  And then there was the time I bought the 01 Ultra, but wasn't satisfied with the 88, and had the SE 96 kit installed, and of course there was the need for a power commander, pipes, and yes, chrome out the you know what.  She knows what's coming, but I had to promise that after spendin' the bucks on the CUSE4 (my Christmas gift) that I would keep "change" to a minimum for a year or two.  However, she even said after a ride last week that the new bike sounds kind of wimpy compared to my old one.  That gave me the open door as in, "well, you know dear, I could . . . ."  I think you can kind of guess the look I got after that -- you know the one with the hands on the hip, head to the side, and one eyebrow raised?  But the key is that she didn't say "no" but she did ask, "how much."  And like a dumba## I'm the one that said, "Oh, you know somewhere between $500 and $1000."  I'll see how the steaks and martinis work on her later tonight.

If any of you are near Georiga at any time, give a shout and we can set up a ride.  Supposed to be beautiful here this Sunday.  Look forward to hearing more suggestions from ya.

Rmarion - Great looking bike with the seat and detached tour pack.  Momma does ride a lot with me.  However, she's going to Rider's Edge soon and seriously considering her own sled.

2 minutes to strip her down..... about 5 minutes at the most to put her back together...

IMO it's worth it..... :bananarock:
