I had the dealer install an oil temp gauge, and of course they installed it in the oil cooler return line.  I did some research on this site before hand, and found some great info. for the install of the sending unit in the oil pan, the dealer did not want to install it there after my suggestion, because they said H.D. does not reccomend it.  I took what they did, apart, and installed it where it should be, in the oil pan.  It looks 100% better and is working.  I can't get it real hot because here in MI. we still have a couple more months before riding season but I know from what I read on this site it will work correctly.  This is a great site with a lot of good information. you did it right the second time. You are better off knowing the operating temp of your motor rather then knowing what kind of job your oil cooler is doing. I think the Mo Co doesn't want us to know how hot their motors really run. At least you will know now. That's all that counts.

great job this site is the best ,some real smart people here glade to see you fixed it ,these so called h-d techs can't think out side the box or wont havent figured it out yet which one
