Power Commander 3 USB crapped out.
« on: March 22, 2009, 05:37:54 PM »

Does anyone have any experience with a PC USB 3 just crapping out going down the road? Installed on a 2000 SERG. Curious to know if it is possible it just crapped out, or if something else caused it. Also If I will still be able to retrieve my mapping to put in a new one. (I do not have the mapping that is in the bike on my PC, and don't know what map it is, but I like it.

They can fail, as with any electrical component. For your map I would try to disconnect it from the bike and connect a 9V battery adapter to the unit and the USB cable to see if you can use the "get map" command from the PCIII software. It is possible to get the map out even though the unit has failed. I have done this before. If you need the 9V battery adapter let me know, I have a few laying around I could send you one.
