That's what I figured, but it seems an odd number.  I'm assuming that it doesn't reset every model year, seeing as it is approaching a million!

Ed

Actually it does reset every model year.  There is a different digit in the VIN that represents the model year, and every model year the sequential digits (last 6) reset.  However, the first digit doesn't usually go to zero.  As an example, I worked in an auto assembly plant that built two different models on the same assembly line.  The sequential number for one model started at 100001, while the sequential number for the other model started at 500001.  When I worked in a truck plant in the 80's, we started the model year at A00001 and after A99999 we went to B00001.  The manufacturers are given leeway in how they use that last 6 digits, as long as there is no possibility of a duplication.

Don't know if you can tell by the VIN but on the left hand side of the frame/steering tube behind the fork is a sticker on my 07 SERK. It has the VIN and manufacture date of the bike along with some other specifics. See attached pic.

Call moco customer service, give them your vin and they can tell you the exact date of manufacture.

There's also a time stamp on the frame near the battery that will get you in the ballpark also
