Tune or Not?
« on: February 06, 2009, 08:50:33 PM »

Got my 08 CUSE3 back from the upgrade yesterday. ( got to ride it 40 feet through the snow) Had fuel pump housing, 3rd set of heated gripes and Monster Ovals done while it was in. Love the sound , can't wait for sprig (2+  more months).
One queston for you smart guys on the site Do I need a tune right away? It has SE/AC, Monster ovals and a super tuner. Reason I ask is the dealer says no(don't believe him) It is 400 miles to the nearest good tuner. I will have one done when I can get there but want to know if it will be OK in the mean time

Going to buy a new high def Plasma screen and leave it knowingly a little out of focus just because it looks pretty fair right now?

Sure it sould be just fine if they set it up right. Its a good idea to get it tuned by a good tuner, even if they are 400 mls away.

Plan on getting a tune. Just want to make sure it's OK to ride the 400 miles. Would try to get it in the ballpark myself but don't know squat about tuners and have not found any one near home to help out. Which brings up the question, is there good instructions on the disc or anywhere else that I could find (can follow directions, unless they come from the X)

The qualifier there certainly is important.  If it were mine I'd not get too worried about the ride to the tuners.  Don't push it hard.  Pay attention to temps.  Assuming you're not waiting to high summer you'll not have to worry about doing it in hot weather given your location.  Take a leisurely ride to get there and ride it like hell on the way home.
