My New Inspection Cover
« on: February 13, 2009, 07:30:00 PM »

Here's a .jpg of the CAD drawing of my new inspection cover.  Being machined out of 6061-T651 now.  Letters will be inlaid with black.  Highly polished.  Edited to be in compliance with site rules.   ;)

New cover arrived sometime over the past three days.  Was in the mailbox when I stopped by the house yesterday.  Will drop it off with Rod on the way back home today, so he can put it on the green bike.
Turned out pretty good.  Edited to be somewhat.......PC.   :)

just curious - when on the bike is the text level?  seems skwed and I know you are an anal retentive MOFO...

Also did you get one for the Purple Bike to make up for bashing it around?  Seems you owe it at least that.

Glad your little one is pulling strong.

hehehehe   :)

I've already been escorted to the door and locked out once, Duane.  I was told the next time such action was necessary, the door would not be reopened.  I think I'm pushing the envelope as is, which has pretty much been my MO my entire life.  I think it best if I continue to ride within my limitations.   :2vrolijk_21:
Once installed, and I get the Green Bike home, I'll post a picture, but it will be altered.  I'm trying to keep in mind that I am an invited guest in someone else's home, and I don't want to wear out my welcome.   :2vrolijk_21:

Appears it will be level, Sean, since the text is in line with the bottom of the cover, which is in line with the long axis of the bike.  Checked all that with the CAD drawing before committing to having one made.
Just finished discussing a duplication about another one for the Purple Bike with CAP at AZECE.  Since I paid for the initial design and CAD work, price for duplication will be a little more than 50% of the first one, which equates to roughly $76.00 plus shipping.  I've been sucking up to the Purple Bike as best I can.  She got new tires, new brake fluid and a nice braided stainless steel front brake line set that looks so much better than that jury rigged half assed straightened stock brake line.  Probably alot safer too, since there were likely dislocations in the metalurgy of the jury rigged stock line, which might have bursted under hard braking.  Also had the calipers overhauled and LRB Z Plus pads installed.  Great brakes on that machine now.  Also removed all those ugly stickers from the front fender, fuel tank, and saddlebags.  There is some slight "ghosting" on the bags, so will need to get after them with an orbital buffer to even them out.  Also had the carburetor pilot jet changed and proper stainless steel hex screws installed in the carburetor float bowl.
The little one is indeed pulling strong.  Thank you, Sir.........ever so much.......for your heartfelt well wishes and concern.  It means more than you know.  Semper Fidelis, Marine!
