TTS Mastertune: V-Tune Feature
« on: October 06, 2009, 09:38:56 PM »

Has anyone performed the V-Tune function of TTS Mastertune, recording the data while riding their bike and what were your results?
Thanks
Tom P.

Many people on this board have. I've done it on 5 of my bikes. Just need to carefully read the instructions/manual cover to cover before attempting it. Then if you have questions ask them after you've studied the manual and read posts here.

It's a relatively simple procedure once you read the instructions. The V-Tune does a relatively good job of dialing in the VE tables in the range you  will routinely experience on the street.  It takes a dyno to get the final cells dialed in. It's near impossible to get the +80kPa cell data on the street. You can't maintain the load for the required time for V-Tune to get a good reading.  A dyno is necessary to get the most from the TTS, but you will likely not notice what you are missing if you do the rest on the street tuning according to the instructions.

Steve at Fullsac used V-Tune on the dyno to develop the base data before fine tuning my 96 after cat & baffle removal. I had previous experience with ThuderMax and the SSERT, but this was my first  exposure to MasterTune. I was quite impressed with V-Tunes capability.

Vtune will allow you to do 85% of the tuning without ever seeing a dyno. That 85% will cover all of the area you normally ride the bike in. If you want the last bit of the tuning it too can be done without a dyno but it will take you looking at the data and making adjustments and then testing again. It's all covered in the instruction manuals just how to do it and many have done it. Many have gone to a dyno afterwards and found very minor improvements if they spent the time to follow the instructions before hand. A dyno just makes it easier to do and quicker to do.

Thanks to everyone for your replies. I have done the cat removal, SE Ventilator air cleaner, 1 3/4 Fullsac baffles, and Mastertune with a tuning map from Steve at Fullsac. Just returned from a 3000 mile trip and the bike performed perfectly in many different situations (sea level to 6000 ft, twisters to interstates, fully loaded to no load.) Heat was no longer an issue and got between 40 to 45 mpg. I couldn't be happier. I think I will sit down, go through the manual and do the V-Tune, I sure it will be a good learning experience. My thanks to both Steve Cole and Steve George for developing great products and great service to go with them. Hard to find lately.
