...it was a beautiful day except for this one. He crashed just before we got there. He was in a capsule and survived.

That's exactly what happened, his boat got airborn at the finish line and "flew 50 feet into the air" according to the paper this morning. The capsule flew another 50 feet in front of the boat. When the big boys go, the divers suit up and are ready for this kind of stuff. The driver is in stable condition this morning and in good hands. Although it looks like rain today I just heard on my marine radio that the race will go on as scheduled. These guys like cool damp air to make em run faster.  Doc

Hope everyone has a safe day on the lake. Sorry, but with the mentioned above rain I just can't motivate myself for a long ride over the mountains into the woods an down into the desert. Thank you for the invite, but the weather just ain't right.  Dave

I know what you mean. Marty must have been bored out of his mind at his corporate meeting in Palm Desert to have come over the hill on the 74 to get here...it snows up there !!!  It turned out to be a nice day yesterday here though, but you would have been dodging T-Storms all the way home today.  It was nice to meet you Grandpadoc, I had a good time seeing your home and the lake. seeing the jet boats was gravy on top...

Lou: Banning pass was trouble coming home on sunday, I left la quinta about 8:00 and the wind was at least 40 mph . and then it started raining.  :nervous: by the time I got to pasadena it started to clear up.

Dave, The organizers where very pleased with the event. They announced that it drew a record crowd and they will be back in November. I'll post the dates when I get them. Looking forward to seeing everyone in May.  Lou and Terry
