Rear Axle Cover missing
« on: March 21, 2009, 10:48:31 PM »

Just a note for everyone to check their Rear Axle Covers.

I had a new rear tire put on, did not check 100% like I usually do.
Looks like they did not put it back on when they were finished.

Washed it today and the left one is missing, thinking it just was loose,
I looked at the remaining one......no way it came loose. There are
two hex bolts/screws holding it on.

Went to the dealer to pick up the new cover they ordered...$125.00. I asked them why they were not eating the cost since their people are the only ones working on it for the last 2 years. Just got rapid blinking from them.

In the future when I drop it off for service, I have a digital camera with a date stamp and will take pictures of everything before and after.

Looks like I will take it back Monday since it is leaking oil, rear cylinder base again (so far 4 sets head gaskets, one ecm, 2 sets base gaskets.)

Put your foot down, contact harley customer service directly and demand a new motor!
