Marin Headlands Ride Today
« on: April 19, 2009, 08:31:26 PM »

Since it was in the 80's today, a bunch of us San Jose guys/gals decided to go for a ride through San Francisco and into the Marin Headlands.  There were a few of the site members on the ride: HD-Dude, AK, Steve D, and myself.  It was a beautiful day but it did get hot in SF in traffic!

What a great day out, I took my 8 year old out for his longest ride yet. We did about 150 miles and he was lovin' it. We talked almost the whole entire ride on the Blue tooth helmets. Riding with a group of other bikes was a big thrill for him as well. He even started doing the hand signals for turns.

Here he is at the headlands.

Wow, you guys went from San Jose thru SF to the Headlands. Me and the wife went from SF to San Jose (took 101). Had lunch at Santana Row (Straits) and had a nice ride back to the City (280). What a day in the Bay! Everyone was out and about and giving each other a thumbs up. Ocean Beach was PACKED and the Giants won (2 - 0)!

And this is just the beginning (it ain't even summer yet)...

I live about 10 minutes from Santana Row.  We need to hook up and ride!

What a lucky kid.  I can't imagine having that much fun when I was his age.

We all headed up Mt. Diablo on Saturday.  Perfect weather.  The warmth was welcoming.  Today we hit Bethel Island for a short run.  We were all pretty tired from Saturday's long ride.  I got to practice my "Ride Like a Pro" slow turns.  Mt. Diablo has some uphill, sharp switchbacks.  Feathering the clutch, throttle control, and using the rear brake.  Great day for muscle memory.   :2vrolijk_21:

I'll be in Vegas the weekend of May 1st. Big fight weekend with Manny Pacquiao fighting Ricky Hatton. Hopefully someday this summer we can all hook up and meet. Until then...
