Newbie with questions.
« on: November 08, 2005, 10:49:28 PM »

It's for my 2001 Ultra, M&M FI.

How do I adjust the warm up idle for my bike? The bike idles fine when it's hot, however, when it is warming up, the idle can wander from 1,100 rpms down to 600 rpms. Sometimes it stalls out.

When I set the cold idle, or first start idle, I adjusted the torx screw behind and to the right of of the throttlebody so that on start up the engine runs up to about 1,500rpms, and drops slowly to about 1,000. A short time later the idle starts dropping even further. After the engine is hot, it idles fine.

Is this adjustable?

You really shouldnt be messing with the set screws.   What you need is a RaceTuner / Power Commander or Thundermax.

Within these items you can set your idle.   In the racetuner you can set not only the idle but also the rpm / and at different temp ranges you can add more fuel if needed to get it to idle better.

I do have the new Race Tune for the M&M. The bike was dyno tuned and runs great.

I found what I was looking for over at HTT in the form of HD Service Bullitin M-1105, Dated August 2000. This is it. http://mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/H.H._M_bulletins/M1105_idle_speed. It explains how to adjust idle speed for the old M&M bikes.

This is a great site.
You guys have a lot of knowledge here.

Thanks
